The Altadena Community Center has been established as a Public-Private Partnership in where the County of Los Angeles, through the generosity of Michael D. Antonovich, Supervisor 5th District, has provided the community of Altadena with a building to quarter six major organizations which serve Altadena. They are:

The Altadena Town Council was established in 1975 by the Women's league of Voters to act as an ombudsman between the citizens of Altadena and the Los Angeles County Supervisor. The Altadena Town Council meets every third Tuesday of the month in the community room of the center at 7:00 pm. Its meetings are televised every third Thursday on Pasadena Charter Communications Public Access Channel 56 PCAC.

The Altadena Chamber of Commerce and Civic Association was chartered in 1924 and serves as Altadena's longest standing organization. As is with community chambers, The Altadena Chamber seeks to coordinate concerns with businesses in the enterprise zones, generate networking and camaraderie among merchants, and be respectful of the residential constituency within what it has always defined as "a community of homes." The Chamber meets every second Tuesday of the month in the Community Room at 8 a.m.


NAACP

The Altadena Branch of the NAACP is an office of the nation-wide association founded in 1909. The primary focus of the NAACP continues to be the protection and enhancement of the civil rights of African Americans and other minorities.

The Sheriff's Support Group of Altadena is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which acts as a law enforcement booster for the Altadena Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. It seeks to rasie money to assist the station in obtaining important materials which are not available through regular budgetary means, and to support the activities in the community that are sanctioned by the station Commander.

ALTADENA HISTORICAL
AND BEAUTIFICATION SOCIETY

The Altadena Historical Society is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1935 as an means of collecting and archiving those items of particular interest that reflect the historical value of the Altadena Community and at the same time preserve the pristine beauty of its homes and gardens.It has gone on to become the largest collection of Altadena memorabilia, from photographs, to publications, to promotional materials and newspaper articles, letters, notecards and other artifacts and relics pertinent to the yore of Altadena.


 

Altadena Heritage is a 501 (c) (3) organization founded in 1989 initially for the express purpose of saving one of Altadena's landmark residences, the Scripps Mansion, from developers who would see to its unceremonious demolition. It has gone on to become an association of passionate preservationists who watch over Altadena's inventory of unique architecture and other historical resources valuable to Altadena.


 

The primary purpose of the Altadena Foothills Conservancy (AFC) is the preservation of land in Altadena, California, focusing on the natural foothills that provide a buffer between developed residential neighborhoods and the rugged San Gabriel Mountains. AFC works cooperatively with other conservancies in the region and state. Objectives include:

  • Preservation of remaining open space and "view sheds"
  • Preservation of historic lands, trail, and associated structures (including Native American cultural sites and artifacts)
  • Protection of natural habitat and watershed (including the maintenance of wildlife access corridors, native plant communities, and streams)
  • Provide recreation access to the Altadena Foothills compatible with its environment
  • Promote an appreciation and understanding of the natural and human history of the San Gabriel Mountains and foothills through education.
